Sir Robert Buckland

Lots of people talk about AI, sadly many do not understand it or consider the regulatory and ethical issues that come with its use, but tonight I was fortunate to talk to someone who really thinks about these issues: Rt Hon Sir Robert Buckland KBE KC  - He is now a Senior Fellow of the Harvard Kennedy School and was formerly the United Kingdom’s Secretary of State for Justice - and he is deeply involved in the debate about the transformative impact of Artificial Intelligence on the judicial system and society as a whole.   We were also able to talk about the importance of foreign direct investment in technology.  The right harnessing of technology and investment can make a huge difference.  The UK is fortunate to attract investors like: Aware Super of Australia who invested £8bn in UK energy and digital infrastructure, British Columbia Ivestment Managment who invested £4.7bn in the UK National Grid and Temasek of Singapore who invested over £2nd in UK AI drug discovery. The City of London is working to promote more investment and I hope it leads to more jobs and opportunity
