The World Economic Forum Global Risks Report 2018 names cyber security as one of its top areas of concern: Breaches are increasing, more than doubling over the past five years. Ransomware is on the rise. Critical infrastructure is being targeted by cyber-attacks. The trends for businesses to move to the cloud, we are pursuing Smart Cities, Smart Workplaces and Smart Homes - and they all open up a whole new world of risk.
So I was delighted to be part of the event today at Mansion House looking at cyber security trends with experts from the City of London Police, Verizon, IT businesses, and policy makers. The report out today from Verizon on Data Breaches should be read by all dealing in data security. Opportunities for data are enormous but we need to get the risks under control.
