Sir Richard Arnold

Wonderful evening tonight in the company of the intellectual property profession for a UNION meeting with Sir Richard Arnold. Sir Richard spoke with great detail on the issues with our rather outdated copyright act and the coming changes in our relationship with retained EU law. We are very lucky that UK judges are so willing to discuss the law with practitioners, not all jurisdictions enjoy such frank exchanges!

It also gave us an opportunity to consider the current tensions in the creative industry over fair remuneration for performances, especially repeats, and the risk AI might pose to performers. We need more areas of policy looked at in this detailed way by those that understand the issues.
