At the annual dinner to His Majesty’s Judges this evening , the Lord Mayor of London, highlighted the central role of the rule of law in securing the UK’s global reputation as a trusted place to do business, and as a powerful contributor to economic growth around the world. He also highlighted our near £600m investment in a new court complex, a project I’m proud to be a board member on.
We also heard from Lady Justice Carr about the challenges of hallucinations of AI - something I’m delighted to be writing on for the Solicotrs Journal.
More personally since I’ve known him throughout my time as a lawyer I was delighted to hear the excellent Lord Justice Birss will be the new Chancellor of the High Court - all in all a fabulous evening of forward thinking judicial discussion.
The rule of law underpins our economy, we need more focus on its value, because justice is not just about the criminal law it is an essential part of business dispute resolution.
