I was honoured to meet with the select committee together with the market comittee chairman and the director of markets. The attendees from the Lords were:
Baroness Bakewell of Hardington Mandeville, Lord Bowness, Viscount Hanworth, Lord Rooker, Lord Selkirk of Douglas, Lord Trees, Viscount Ullswater and Baroness Scott of Needham Market.
Following an introductory briefing, the Members were given a tour of the Market's main trading area, to observe daily trading activities, and discuss the effects of the EU Common Fisheries Policy and UK Government fishing policy on the Market in particular and the UK fishing industry in general.
The Members of the Sub-Committee also met with Carol Jane Jackson, Director of Billingsgate Seafood School, for a tour of the School and to discuss training and education in the fishing industry.
