Lam Commission 60th anniversary

The Law Commission of England & Wales was established to add some professionalism to the updating of laws.

It exists to keep the laws of England and Wales under review, an ever increasing task,  and to recommend reforms. The organisation is headed by a Chair (a judge) and four Law Commissioners. It proposes changes to the law that will make the law simpler, more accessible, fairer, modern.

Tonight we celebrated its 60th anniversary, a huge milestone in English legal history. It was also a delight to see many foreign jurists attend the event, as a former resident of Canada it was especially good to meet the Chief Justice of the Canadian Supreme Court.
